Pool Removal in Clearwater

There are two ways to take out a pool, and the one you choose changes the price, the paperwork, and what you can build on the spot afterwards. Our yard is here in town, and we are licensed C-11855 and CUC041521.

Countryside is where the pool calls come from: 1970s and 1980s subdivision houses whose original pools are showing their age, on lots where a side-yard gate usually decides whether a machine or a crew does the breaking. The gunite and deck go to Keene Rd a few minutes away and come back out as paver base, which keeps a Clearwater partial fill-in the leanest pool job we run.

This is our home market. The work is block-ranch teardowns for rebuilds, obsolete commercial strips coming down along the Gulf-to-Bay corridor, and obsolete commercial buildings coming off the Cleveland Street district as it turns over. Because the debris comes back to our own transfer station a few minutes away, disposal on a Clearwater teardown costs us less than it costs a contractor hauling to someone else’s gate, and the bid shows it.

Partial removal is the common choice. The pool is drained, the shallow-end floor is broken up so water can drain through, the top of the shell is knocked down at least a couple of feet below grade, and the void is filled and compacted. It is faster and cheaper, and it is what most homeowners pick when the space is becoming lawn, garden or patio. The tradeoff is disclosure: a partially removed pool stays on the record when you sell, and the ground is generally not considered buildable.

Full removal takes out the entire shell, the decking and the plumbing, and the hole is refilled with engineered fill compacted in lifts. It costs meaningfully more than a partial fill-in and takes longer, but it leaves ground you can build on and a cleaner story at resale. If there is any chance of an addition, a garage or an ADU on that spot, full removal is the honest recommendation.

Every demolition is quoted on site, free. Access, structure and what has to be protected move the number more than square footage does, which is why we walk it rather than price it down the phone.

The yard is in Clearwater, so haul cost is as close to zero as it gets — trucks cycle between the site and our own C&D transfer station on Keene Rd without leaving the city. No bridges, no tolls, and short cycles mean more loads per day and a lower bid.

How it works

What a Clearwater job looks like

  1. Drain and disconnect

Water discharged legally; pool electrical and plumbing cut and capped at the equipment pad.

  2. Permit

Pool demolition is permitted through your city or county. We file it and schedule around the review.

  3. Demolish

Decking and shell broken out — fully, or down below grade for a partial removal.

  4. Haul and recycle

Concrete, gunite and deck go to our own yard and get crushed into base material.

  5. Backfill and grade

Fill placed and compacted in lifts, then graded to blend with the rest of the yard.

Questions

Pool Removal in Clearwater — FAQs

How much does pool removal cost in Clearwater?

It comes down to the structure and the access, not the ZIP code. On partial removal, good access, what moves the number is pool size and how much deck comes with it. What moves it in Clearwater is how short the haul is — the debris goes back to our own gate a few minutes away, so disposal barely moves the bid. We walk the site and quote it, free.

Should I choose partial or full removal?

Partial if the space is becoming lawn or patio and you want the lower number; full if you might ever build on the spot or want the cleanest position at resale. We will tell you plainly which fits your plans.

Can I build over a removed pool?

After a full removal with engineered, compacted fill, generally yes. After a partial fill-in, no — the buried shell remains, and lenders and building departments treat the ground accordingly.

Do I need a permit to remove a pool?

Yes. Every Tampa Bay municipality permits pool demolition, and we handle the filing as part of the job.
