A demolition company that owns its own back end
Sarnago & Sons has been a family business in Clearwater since 1978. The yard at 1741 N Keene Rd is still where every truck starts the morning.
Demolition is a licensed trade in Florida, and we hold both of the licenses the work actually requires: C-11855 Specialty Demolition Contractor, which covers taking structures down, and CUC041521 Underground Utility, which covers the disconnects, cap-offs and septic abandonment that nearly every teardown involves. Plenty of outfits advertise demolition with neither.
The other half of the company is the part most customers never see: a C&D transfer station at the same Keene Rd yard, run under our sister operation at sarnagoandsonsrecycling.com. Roll-off dumpsters go out from it, demolition debris comes back to it, and the concrete, block and rock get crushed into road base, paver base and #57 rock that gets sold back into the local market.
Why it matters
What owning the transfer station changes
On most demolition bids, disposal is a subcontracted line item — the contractor pays a gate rate by the ton at someone else’s facility, adds a margin, and passes it to you. Disposal is often the biggest single cost on the job, so that markup is the biggest single padding on the bid.
Our trucks dump at our own gate. That does three things: the disposal line on our quote is a cost, not a profit center; short haul cycles mean more loads per day and fewer truck-days on your invoice; and the concrete does not go to a landfill — it becomes base material. When a job needs compacted fill or a rock cap afterward, the material comes off the same pile.
We run our own C&D transfer station at the Keene Rd yard, so demolition debris does not become a markup on someone else’s disposal invoice. Concrete, block and rock come back to us and get crushed into base material.
